Day 14 of 17 - Cold Run

Sunday, October 04, 2009

I am so glad that I have made a step back decision. It felt so good this morning to go out for a 5k run even though it was rather cold outside.

My calorie intake was not good, went to two birthdays but I am not sad or breaking me down because of it. My spirit is going up and I know I am not going to stop running like I was starting to convince myself of doing because of to difficult running plan.

I took a screen shot of the temperature here in Iceland when I went outside running *brrr* -3 *brrr* 26.6F *brrr*, but yesterday I bought myself a wool cycling pans to use under my running pans and it made a lot of difference.

Well.. It is not as cold as you think :) Average temperatures in the winter is –2°C/28°F. Temperature fluctuations are common and there can easily be a difference of 10°C/50°F from one day to the next. In winter the temperature tends to hover just above and below freezing here in Reykjavík.

But we have a lot of wind and during the winter we have storms every two weeks or so :)

It sometimes feels like -25°C when I am outside because of the wind, but -10°C are common to see some days. So I guess it is more cold in Canada but the weather is not as stormy so it feels like it is hotter :).

Ooh, that's chilly. I think the coldest I ran in over winter was about -4ish. Many mornings I had sweat inside my beanie, and ice outside! Awesome! But you're not even into winter proper, yet! I agree with CDNMSFIT, how cold does it get????

Wow! It's a lot colder there than here (I live in Canada). How cold does it get in the Winter? You can speak Celsius to me as it is what I speak, too. :)
