Down as in "down time." Wednesday is my midweek "rest stop." I have no planned activities on Wednesday evening, so I enjoy fixing a nice dinner and being at home. Today was my off day, so I took advantage by sleeping in, going out to lunch with my hubby, watching a movie, and doing some cleaning. Oh, and playing some volleyball and riding my stationary bike. I did absolutely no cardio Wednesday, so I did a little extra today.
I can't express how much I love my down time. This time of the year is when things start to heat up and speed up toward the end of the year. Seems like we have something going on every weekend, and there are the usual obligations during the week.
I'm thankful that I have a chance to unwind and relax midweek. It's so helpful for me to get through until the end of the week or even the weekend, depending on what's going on. I can check everyone's schedules and know what's going on for the next few days. I can plan for the next few days at mid-week.
Are you taking any down time for yourself? We live in a world that praises the go, go, go mentality. If you're not busy beyond belief, then there's something wrong with you, society says. But the truth is that taking time to relax and take a breath is vital to our health and our sanity.
Honestly, each of us should take time every day for "feeling down." Down time is not wasted time. It's vital time.
If you don't take time for yourself, make time for yourself. If you do, then thank yourself for giving YOU a break.
