Meeting Goals - eating my fruits and veggies

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

When I joined Spark June 08 my goal was to get healthier.

I met this goal - I am healthier. I know if you read a few of my blogs - earlier this year - you might not think I am healthier. But, I am not seeing as many doctors and I have not been to my family dr in almost 3 months - this is BIG for me. I have not hugged a commode in over 3 months, had any tests done in two months, been sent to a specialist for my kidneys, thyroid, allergies, ear infections, or other ailments since June. I can finally say - I feel GOOD 99% of the week.

I changed my goal this July to lose 25 pounds this year. I have lost 14 pounds so far. When I meet this goal - my next goal will be another 25 pounds.

I will see how I feel at that time. My perfect all time weight is 138 pounds. I cant imagine myself back at this weight - which is probably what stops me from attaining this goal. I lost 38 pounds three years ago - the next year I was sidelined with physical therapy for my foot and told to do no extra exercises - due to my bad ankle. So yes, I gained it all back.

I want to lose 50 pounds, so I have 36 to go.

In May or June I started eating 6-8 servings of fruits and veggies a day. I do my best to reach 8 - I feel the difference on the days I do not eat my fruits and veggies.

For someone who has spent more time sick in her lifetime then healthy - I want to encourage you to eat your fruits and veggies.

Ruthkb2 6-8 servings is the daily recommend amount.
Jean a big no a huge thumbs up for getting in your recommended amount daily, that is a goal I struggle with. I do hide veggies in other dishes. You can't taste the carrot or zucchini shredded into spaghetti sauce lol
