My very first 10K!!! :)

Well, my very first blog after a while of joining Sparkpeople. But for me this is special and I need to share it.
This coming October I plan to participate in my very first 10K. I’m so excited that I can’t even describe it.
I must say that I, by no means, consider myself a runner. I prefer power-walking, and that’s what I intend to do on my 10K. I power-walk 12min/mile, so I’m confident I can make it to the finish line decently, not to win the 10K but to prove to myself that I can do this and at the same time help the cause which this year is in benefit of our Cardiology Institute.
I’ve been power-walking 10 miles per week for quite a while as part of my cardio training, in addition to strength training 3 times per week, so I don’t think to be in bad shape for the big event. Anyways, if you guys have any tips or past experiences you want to share with me, I’ll totally appreciate them.
I’ll be posting pics to let you guys know how I did. I know I can do this.
