I wrote this to my Leaders of my Biggest Loser Challenge - and there is much to be said for overall motivation. I thought Id share it in my blog.
"The change of seasons has very subtle effects on everyone...and although your favorite season may not be spring OR winter - those tulips and daffidols sticking up out of the snow and blooming and the dingy yuk of winter finally leaving makes one smile INTERNALLY - And winter (much to my dismay) - who doesnt INTERNALLY SMILE with the first snow? Even I DO...(did I say that out loud?)
You are all going to find that the economy and the fact that there is no QUICK FIX to the money issues is more of a drag than we understand. For those of you/us that have had some financial repercussions , you KNOW that when you go to the store, you shop differently. Whats cheap is not always whats good for you. And we have been eating out more because I am NEVER home! I have bought a freezer full of tv dinners...frozen pizzas...potpies... Cuz with school and work, I am never home. Are those healthy? NO. So - more than anything else, you are all learning how to motivate people in difficult times - how to dig yourself out of the hole you crawl inside of occasionally - how to put that spark back in your step. So if you think that this is just a "web-page" and you are just a number runner - you are sorely mistaken. You are learning skills and verifiable traits that will help develop you and your personality for the rest of your life. And I'm totally serious! If you are looking for a job, you'd better have a brief mention of being a leader of a nutrition site on your resume! That will get attention!
I challenge EACH OF YOU (where the weather permits) to take a walk with someone this weekend - day, evening, morning - and just NOTICE the changes. The colors - the sounds - the smells. Fall signifies the end of summer - the dying of deciduous plants
- the flying "south" of the migratory birds - but it shouldn't mean that we are all DYING inside!! Its an amazing TIME of year!!
