Different scales - different weights

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

My bath room scales tell me I weigh 75 kg, at the same time, before break fast, my wii scale tells me that I weigh 74 kg and the scales at my weight challenge club says I weigh 76 kg , that's 12 hours later though. So how much do I weigh???

I agree that you have to use one scale and go with that. Also, during the day your body weight will change up to 2 pounds more or less. Remember, it is only a number and not to get too upset with the differences-have a great day!

I think I'll try to stay with the wii, it seems to be the most accurate one. Also I've been thinking, the body has to gain weight during the day due to eating and drinking, which accounts for the 1 kg increase.

Scales are only as good as their method of calibration. For consistency in tracking your weight, you need to rely on one scale only. A kilogram here or there measured on different scales is normal. I vary as much as 3kg. difference between an older bathroom scale and my newer digital scale. I'd like to believe the lower reading from the bathroom scale, but, the digital scale is more accurate. It records a weight similar to the readings from the scale at my doctor's office. I weigh-in first thing in the morning, before breakfast, every day and record that reading. If I eat a modest, nutritious breakfast, then weigh-in again, I usually show a kg. or 2 gain. I suggest you weigh yourself first thing in the morning on your home bathroom scale and accept that weight.

I have the same issue. For which scale are you the most consistent in terms of time of day, activity, etc.? Follow that one.

Since I'm at WW, that's my official weigh-in for the week. When I have to fend for myself, for other teams that weigh in on other days, I look for the most representative weight for the day.

If I could train myself to get on the Wii each day when I woke up, I could go by that.
