Don and I had the most wonderful vacation!
We have not taken an actual vacation in 9 years!
Don has been saving all of his coin for the last 12 or so years - he told me to go cash it in - he was taking me on a vacation. God Bless that man!
Long story short - I had to drive about 60 miles from home to a branch of our credit union to use their coin machine for the coin I couldnt roll. The teller thought it was the most romantic thing he ever heard of.. saving coin to take a wife a on a vacation.
It wasnt just regular change my husband kept, he collected all the new quarters as they came out, he collected silver and gold dollars, and the JFK 50 cent pieces.
We had a wonderful time exploring the other side of our great lake state - Muskegon which neither of us had ever been to.
First we went to the beach.
We took a tour on the Silverslide Submarine that was featured in a movie and took out the most ships in WWII.
We walked Peer Marquette in Muskegon.
We hiked up a very steep hill - which Thank God had steps for a look out onto Lake Michigan,
walked many of the beaches along the lake, went to three state parks in one day! Walked the river walk on both sides of the river to see the lake from both aspects. Drove to Silver Lake one day to see the beauty of the lake and was pleasantly surprised to see sandunes - which we climbed up - I went up on my hands and knees due to my ankle; got to see windparasailers, sanddune races with ATVs, jeeps, and other ORVs. Sat on the beach one night and watched the sunset.
Rested, relaxed, sat in the hot tub and swam. Went to breakast and dinner everyday and had healthy snacks for lunch.
We had so much FUN and relaxation we decided to go back to Lake Michigan next Septemeber, but a little further north.
I have a pic for my background of the lake and a few more pics on my page.
Thank you for stopping by!
