Seasons of Life

Thursday, September 17, 2009

This is where I am right now. How do they know?! Right now my season is not as happy with all the issues surrounding my dad's depression and trying to find assisted living for him. It is affecting my energy, it is affecting my kids, it is affecting my spirit and I'm sure other things as well.

I needed the reminder today that there are other seasons going on and they aren't things that pull me down. I am also in the season of raising and homeschooling my children. Those too can affect my energy and spirit, but they do bring joy!

I need to listen to these words from the reflection: "Think creatively about how to maximize the sweet times and minimize the sour ones."

All things pass eventually

Have you ever heard the concept of "seasons" in life? It refers to an idea that nothing in life lasts forever, and with time, all things change. Do you feel like your life is in an unhappy state? Are you stuck in a rut? It will pass! Sadly, this also applies to the good times as well. The elation of a promotion, the excitement of a new relationship--all will fade with time. Think creatively about how to maximize the sweet times and minimize the sour ones.

"Think creatively about how to maximize the sweet times and minimize the sour ones." I really like this. I think I need to copy/paste/print this out. As simple as this quote is or appears... it WAY DEEP, Janet... almost too deep to comprehend. I can (on the surface) understand this and say... yea, yea, like lemons make lemonade... but really... it DOES take creative thinking to process the maximizing and minimizing, for example........ a beautiful day is 'in our face' and we push it aside to take on some other thoughts. The day is sweet, but passes without ever being maximized because it's taken it for granted- like... there'll be plenty more days like that day, to come.

What gorgeous happy children, Janet! Remember, sweet friend, your health and your happiness must be maximized in order for you to have the SWEET in abundance, which maximizes your family's SWEET... like a pebble thrown in a pond- the ripple effect, and I learned (am learning) from you that...
1. What is your NOW feeling?
2. Could you welcome/allow that feeling?
3. Could you let it go?
4. Would you let it go?
5. When?
for your dad. Remember, his choices are his- not yours!! Just GO to your happy place, Janet!! GO to your happy place with the guardrail and too many people IF you have to!!

Love, yer'
