Walking Boot Camp- Day 1
Tuesday, September 15, 2009
I did it. Well, most of it. Over half of it for sure!
It being my first Walking Boot Camp workout. I did all the walking- and fancy walking- stuff. I crashed and burned when it came to strength training. That's not surprising considering that I've never actually done any strength training before. I did do some of every exercise. But I only did the circuit once (I'm supposed to do it twice). I'd say I did between 60 and 70% of the full workout. That's not bad for the first day. (If it was supposed to be easy, it wouldn't be a boot camp!)
I've decided to track my measurements (at least) on a weekly basis so I can check progress. After all, this boot camp routine claims a loss in size- not necessarily weight.
The theory is that this is Week 1. I leave Thursday for three weeks away. All of my stops will be in an area where I can do this program. Since I won't be working, I won't have to drag my tail out of bed before dawn to get out there- theoretically, I'll do the workout at the same time I would here. (It's two hours later where I'm going). After three weeks, my circadian rhythm should be adjusted enough that I'll be able to get up at 5 am in my world to exercise. Theoretically.
My first stop is my Dad's. He's gone batty for exercise. He's going to work me so hard- I'm going to HATE him after this! But I betcha he'll make me do better than I did today.
In my defense, today was my first outing so I had to check my papers constantly to figure out what I was supposed to be doing and how long I should be doing it. (In retrospect, I should have done this on the weekend when I had two hours to puzzle it out!) Once I've done it a few more times, I shouldn't need the full instructions, and eventually, I'll wean myself from my next step- an index card.
I'm supposed to be dancing tonight. But I'm not. My plantar fasciitis was aggravated from Saturday's evening out, plus I'm packing. I cannot miss band tomorrow night, so I have to pack tonight- as much as possible, anyway. It's not going all that well so far. I've just managed to pack all the stuff that I'm leaving there- Xmas gifts, returning books, etc. It's almost a full suitcase in and of itself! I guess that's good because I'm going to sort through a lot of my old stuff at my mother's house, so I'll likely find some treasures to bring back.
I will have some internet access while I'm away. I probably won't do a lot of communicating just because I'm actually going to visit family- not use their internet in massive quantities. I'll try to pop in the occasional few words, but no promises.
I'll probably write tomorrow anyway.
