Over the river and through the woods....

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

A friend of mine asked me to take care of her dog for her and today I decided that I was going to ride over so that I got my exercise in. If you go to her house via the road, she's about 2 miles away. It's a really bad busy road so I took a short cut, through the park, over the river, through the woods, around the ball fields and to her house which was a really nice ride. Most of it was paved roads but they weren't busy (like the main road going to her house would have been!). The rest of it gave me a pretty good workout because it was through dirt and gravel and grass and UPHILL to get back up from the bridge going over the river.... I changed gears a lot today.

And, of course, Subaka went with me! - WRONG THING TO DO! Our dogs have never met. I figured I'd just leave Subaka in the garage while I took care of her dog. As soon as the garage door opened, her dog started barking (excited that someone was there). When her dog started barking, my dog started barking. Then there was the challenge to get in the door without letting Subaka into the house or the other dog out of the house! What should have taken me 5 minutes in and out took me about 15. Both dogs were yelping that they wanted to play and were so hyper but my friend doesn't want to get them together because the last time she got her dog with another dog, it drew blood and they had started fighting. I understand. I might approach the subject one day again (with both dogs on leash and both of us there).

So anyway, I did really great today with eating. I don't know how. I guess it was just that we were so busy at work today that I didn't have time to think about food. I will tell you though, I was STARVED at morning break (aka breakfast) and lunch today (which we took a little later than normal just because we were so busy and didn't realize what time it was). I made couscous for the first time last night to have with dinner and had some this afternoon for lunch. It's okay. Kinda bland and I didn't want to add butter or salt or anything to it. So, I just put my chicken with hot mango chutney over it.

As for the water... I did good (but not as good as yesterday!) I think I have 12 glasses in so far but I'm still drinking. I'm getting ready to watch Biggest Loser and do some stepping on my Wii Fit. I'm going to try to get to bed earlier tonight. I have to leave for work by 5:15 and have been staying up until about 11:30 every night. That means I'm getting about 4 hours of sleep! I know that's another BLC team challenge... I'm usually good at sleeping. I'm glad that challenge isn't this week!

P.S. Subaka is doing fine. He isn't getting leg cramps any more and his paws have toughened up so that he's not licking them for a couple of hours when we get home from our cardio. That and we now have a ritual where he gets a "deep muscle" massage from me when we get home from the workouts. I rub him down and massage his muscles (especially in his legs where he used to get his leg cramp). He'll actually stretch out his legs when I'm massaging them while his tail is wagging a mile a minute! I guess he likes it. When I'm done giving him his massage he looks at me, yawns, and stretches as if he just got up from a good nap! I just wish he could return the favor. I mean, I laid on the floor and all he did was lay down next to me! LOL

Lucky Subaka! I don't suppose you'd come give me massages after exercise? No, I thought not. I don't have a tail to wag to reward you. emoticon

I understand about the being starved without breakfast. I was just talking about it today. I used to skip breakfast all the time and didn't get hungry but since I started having breakfast regularly my tummy expects it. We had a staff meeting this morning so I didn't have breakfast. They usually have muffins and scones but I usually don't have any. I broke down at the break and had a blueberry muffin. They are actually the proper serving size so I figured it was all right. But it was still a lot more calories for a lot less food than if I have my oatmeal.

Oh I am so glad to hear things are going "well" for the two of you. My dog also loves the massages and when I lay down on the floor she just wags her tail more I dont get one either.

Funny you went over the river and through the woods and I am at grandma's house hehehehe
