I am not sure where I got this idea from but this is my today's huddle in my various teams.
We can all help someone every single day. We can smile at the senior and hold the door to the post office. We can make a funny face to a squirming infant in a shopping cart. We can even pet the head of a dog or cat to make them feel loved.
Here at SparkPeople there are many people in need of a smile, hug, funny face, just an acknowledgment that they are indeed alive and not invisible.
I try not to get so bogged down in my own SP Teams that I might forget the millions of strangers needing a helping hand.
Please consider visiting the Introduce Yourself Forum www.sparkpeople.com/mysp
and extend the hand of friendship to a new member. Invite them to your favorite teams or just let them know that you saw them and wanted to say hello.
Visit the Blog Page www.sparkpeople.com/mypa
and read a random blog - not all blogs are read and too many never get comments on them.
Go to the SparkPages page www.sparkpeople.com/mypa
and say hello on a brand new SparkPage. I cry when I see so many never having a comment on them. It only takes a minute to say, "Hey, I like your spark page!"
Who can YOU help today?
Today I put my name in for leader at a team who's leader has been absent for 90 days. Why? Not because I want to be leader - but because I can then send a team email and find out who would like to step forward to help lead the team. It is a good team, an active team, but like all teams - it needs a leader or leaders to let them know they are wanted and needed on the team. We are all fragile creatures. I don't want to be invisible anymore.
Invisible = lonely.
We too are pack animals; we are herd animals. We find safety in numbers and we tend to get rowdy in groups. But to truly break out and have fun we mostly need to be surrounded with friends. We need to feel needed and wanted.
Even at the lowest point in my life, when I was a fat, 4-eyed youngster, I would have welcomed being part of a group. Any group. But I just never made the cut.
I cannot allow this to happen if I can prevent it by saying hello to a new member, or a lonely stranger.
