Yoga?

Friday, September 11, 2009

I just read an interesting article about how yoga can help create more awareness of fullness and help prevent overeating. I can believe that. It also makes me wonder if maybe I can do yoga videos on my off running days. It would certainly help my muscles and my surgery knee, if I do it in conjunction in my stationary bike.

Speaking of which, the fact I had to post my TMI today made me get on the bike this evening. I decided not to walk the dog b/c my tibia is still a little tender (although it doesn't hurt when I walk), but a few unexpected things distracted me when I would have gotten on my bike earlier today. Since I forgot to do it, I did my exercise later tonight, but I'm really glad I did. What I don't get it is that SP says I burned a whopping 430 calories on the bike and I can't really believe that. The bike says I only burned 275.

I stayed within my calorie range, but only just. The good news is that I ate a lot of veggies today. But I should have eaten only half of the ice cream tonight. Luckily I stopped at 3/4 since it was just too sweet.

I bought a Yoga book called " Molly Fox's Yoga Weight Loss Program" it is really educational and I enjoyed reading it and learning yoga for weight loss.

I have always been kind of hesitant to try Yoga b/c I have poor balance but I've finally decided to take the plunge and have signed up to start taking a Yoga class once a week.

I suggest for a beginner to get rondey yee. He has a beginners dvd, and it shows you each pose and how to do them correctly, and common mistakes. I have just started doing Yoga. I feel better after doing it. It's something that's going to take time to get better at. At least for me, I am not at all flexible. But its not just about stretching.

I never really tried yoga. I got a book on it once and tried the postions in it and my back started hurting (I have a bad back anyway). All in all, it sounds like you doing great, keep up the good work!! Lyn
