Healthy Reflections: What kind of emotional atmosphere are you creating?

What kind of emotional atmosphere are you creating?

Positive people are almost always natural leaders and motivators. People gravitate towards them, just as they avoid individuals who continually mope or complain. Take a look at your own attitude. Is it one that others would want to emulate in their own lives? Instead of jumping to throw in a negative comment, try to think of something good to say instead. By no means hold in your feelings, but remember that no one likes to be surrounded by constant pessimism. Attitudes are contagious so fill your environment with happiness, enthusiasm, and optimism!

This is the same premise as smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone. But sadly that isn't the whole truth. A bad attitude is contagious. A person having a lousy day can turn around totally happy people just with negativity. I try to remember to smile.

I think it was in Reader's Digest, "if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all." Another good one to live by. Sometimes I have to look really deep but generally something positive can be found to comment on in most situations. If not, offer to cry with the other person rather than chance making things worse. Not always doable, but well worth the trying.

I do try to create a happy atmosphere.

"Attitudes are contagious. Is yours worth catching?" - Anonymous quote from Healthy Reflections.

I have been wanting to add my "two cents" to this blog for a couple of days.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about the contagion of attitude. My extra take on what everyone else has said is that you can catch your own attitude. Let's say that you wake up on a particular day and just feel glum! You can start out pretending to be happy and suddenly you actually are! You start to focus on all the "reasons" to be happy and you start to experience them again in the now. And Voila', you ARE happy!

P.S. - Counting my blessings also works quite well for me.

I like this quote "Smile, it enhances your face value."
It's true that bad attitude or good attitude is contagious -I'm thinking of companies where I worked, sometimes one person could ruin the general attitude of the whole workplace.

How right. I have to deal with quite a few complaints at work and usually manage to do it calmly and positively. I've seen people stop in mid complaint and look really surprised. It's great when they go away happy and even thank me....rare but it does happen sometimes!!

When I was a little girl, my mom taught me that saying. She told me it was Thumper's mom in Bambi that said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." I don't know if that's true.

You are the most positive upbeat person I know. You demonstrate that no matter how difficult the road may be, you can succeed just believing in yourself.
