the 3 D's

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

me and my husband have been encouraging one another lately with reminding one another about the 3 D's. dedication, discipline, and determination. It makes us think about what we want. sometimes when I don't want to get up to go exercise because it is so early, he will say ahh " remember the 3 D's" and of course it is hard to lay there and be lazy after. sometimes his 3 D's are determination, determination, determination, because that is what it takes to get started in the morning. It is good to have one another. We have been on this journey together for a while now, but we just started the thing with the 3 D's. it is just another way to help each other. I started thinking about it today and I thought i need to look up those words and meditate on the meanings and how to keep them in my mind so I dont give up.
I also so a church sign this weekend, while out riding our bikes and it said," If your vision hasn't cost you anything then it is still a daydream." I thought about that and today when I wanted to eat a almond joy bar, i decided to let that be what my vision cost me, because I dont want to daydream about weight loss all the time, especially after i got up so early and exercised today. After, I thought about what that sign said i realized that this vision of being healthy and lean, and having a goal weight to reach, was definitely going to cost me something everyday. What it was going to cost me was --- Dedication, Discipline, and Determination.

I liked your blog and your 3 D's a lot. I have one more "D" to add to your list and that is "Decision' --because when it comes down to it, it all boils down to choices--do you eat that almond joy (my all time fav candy bar!!!)or nor--do you get up early and run--or not. It's the decisions that we make that either make us or break us. And with your dedication, determination and discipline (plus a great husband!)you will make the choices that will lead you to your ultimate goal! emoticon

Wow. What an excellent blog! The three d's are a great way to stay motivated, and to keep each other motivated.

I also like the quote about the vision and the daydream. I never would have thought of that myself -- overindulging in something at the moment will cost me the time and effort that it took to get to where I am now.

Thank you so much for sharing this blog!
