Tampa: The new vacation destination

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Our second set of house guests left for the airport this morning. And we've only lived in this home for 2 months. I was told by different people that when I move to Florida we'll have lots of people visiting. So far, we're not proving them wrong.

I've realized many things happen when we have guests staying in our home.

1) I throw all routine out the window - bedtime, wake up time, laundry, dishes, cooking

2) My healthy lifestyle takes a big back seat - I don't want to drink my water, don't want to eat the right thing, don't want to exercise. It's like I've convinced myself those things will take away from the enjoyment of our friends. My body decides that I'm also on vacation and I can do what I want until vacation is over.

3) Can't think of a third, but I always like to write things in threes.

So, the friends are gone, and I'm hoping to get back on track again. The kids start school on Monday and I'm hoping to gain more control over my time then. I can always hope.

What you need for house guests are people who are as committed to healthy living as you want to me and people who will help you with chores instead of just contributing to them. Maybe someone like me? LOL!

I hope Tampa isn't as awful as TRAINOF4 thinks and I hope that your healthy living and a stressfree life gets back on track soon.

Take care.

p.s. The renovation photos on my SparkPage are actually from 2003. When we bought this house, I told DH that there was no way I was going to move into a house that had an orange dining room, a pepto-bismal pink family room and a kitchen that was uglier than the one I currently had.

I don't envy you living in Tpa - I HATED it , but that's usually what happens when you grow up somewhere & live there for 25+ yrs. Perhaps before your friends & relations come for visits some ground rules could be tactfully put in place .. might keep down any disagreements or resentments ... or as TaffyBo said, be out of town a lot! LOL
