For the very first time, I'm exercising consistently while on vacation, and I'm finding that I love it!!! The freedom from the compulsive side of my exercising is coming to full fruition this week. I've been going to bed when I feel like it and waking up when my body has had enough rest. I've been easing my way into my morning workouts and while I'm working with lighter weights than I would at home (who wants to pack 10, 12, 16, & 25# weights anyway) I'm using a modified technique to get the most out of my workouts. After working out, I typically grab a shower and a healthy breakfast before transitioning into my daily bible study and devotional time. After that, it's all about reading and crocheting or whatever feels like the thing to do at that given moment.
I don't think I've ever had a vacation like this in my life, but I can tell you this...I'll be planning this type of vacation each year for the rest of my life, God willing. There is no way to grow in health and wellness consistently and continually without making that time to unplug and re-center. That was the part of the equation that I was missing. It feels so good and it has been so beneficial. I'm looking forward to reworking my daily schedule to create time for more balance and micro vacations in each workweek.
