I've been reading to try and find foods or combination of foods that will stick with you and last longer than some of my regular choices. A new favorite is my almond butter. I find that it really sticks with me. I use it sparingly, like I do my PNB but coupled with my multi-grain complex carb english muffin, I have a snack that stays with me thru out my morning and holds me over for lunch. I need more of these combinations.
Saturday we spent the day at Sauder's Village. It was a rainy yucky start to the day but got nice after we were there for a bit. I love learning about the past. Seeing all the ingenuity that went into their lives. Women back then had so much work to do (I know, men too...) and I got tired just listening to them talk about it. You or your daughter want a dress? Sure, no problem, we have to make it... wait, we have to weave the material.... wait, we have to spin the wool... wait, we have to shear the sheep... wait, on second thought, I'll wear what I got! And that was only one of the many things they talked about. I think families were closer back then because they needed each other to survive. It was a lovely day but it made me tired and grateful for washing machines, dish washers and all the other amenities that my blessed life has!
The ingenuity that our forefathers had could be used today. I wish we had stored some of theirs in a few canning jars and we could open them now and it'd help us figure out the mess we're in. *sighs*
One things for sure, walking all over the village was a great way to get all my steps in!
