So the wedding is over. It was beautiful and rewarding this most elemental celebration of love and commitment. I wonder if the symbolism was noted. I think it was. A young couple promising to love forever. Is this possible? Certainly! Many have done it, but many also drift away from love into selfishness and bitterness; the beauty and celebration so long planned, long forgotten.

I wish for Joshua and Valerie that they learn that love is not a constant state of bliss, but a constant state of purpose: to value and love the person by honoring your promise to them even when the weariness of life would have you pull away.

And now we have more good news. A baby in March! Not the son, but the daughter who is five years married. It is a new pregnancy and she's feeling queasy and tired. But they are happy and the baby is well planned, and happily anticipated. Thomas and Ariel are the example of a good marriage. They are kind and affectionate to each other and they will be great parents. I look forward to this new experience of Grand parenthood.

Being a grandparent is difficult to explain. It's one of those thing you have to experiance for yourself. There just isn't anything quite like it. I know you will enjoy every moment of it. What a wonderful blessing! Congratulations.
