New Route!!

Sunday, August 09, 2009

Usually on the weekend I run at the park. But its sorta a drag. Cuz I have to drive to the park. Coming home I'm hot and sweaty. If I take the dog, he's a mess as well.

So I mapped out a route from my subdivision to another subdivision. Around 1/2 my subdivision down the main strip to the other one. I didn't realize there was a running trail over there. So instead of running the streets, I went to the running trail, ran is twice and then home.

I'm not really sure how far I went, since I mapped out to run the subdivision. and I have no techy gear. I'm guessing about 1.5 - 1.75. I think the trail is at about 1/3 mile, maybe 1/2. Its longer than the (smaller) trail at the other park I drive to; thats 1/3 mile.

Anyway, I did pretty good considering the high humidity and late start. :)

OOH. cool. There is a bike trail by my place but I am not sure how safe it is. I'm sure it's fine by me, but further south I know it's not.

Glad you found a new place to get to. Did you try the 'how far did I go' feature? That trail might actually be there. I love this feature!

Before we moved, our subdivision/neighborhood had a walking trail too that I would do with the girls (tells you how long ago that was...the boy wasn't even around LOL). I can't remember how far it was but I do know I got the info through the home owners deal. I loved doing the walk. I see other houses and would get ideas on what I wanted to do with my own yard and the such. Plus, I got to meet and greet a few neighbors too.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Sounds like you found a great place to run! And it's great to not have to drive somewhere! Maymyrun.com IS a great site! Check it out! I use it all the time. The only problem is that the maps are a few years old on there, so sometimes, as in my area, if there's a lot of roadwork and changing of how the roads run, then they could be off a little, But if your area's streets haven't changed then you should be good to go!

have you tried mapmywalk.com? You can find out exactly how far your routes are. There's also mapmyrun.com, but I think it's basically the exact same site.
Nice finding a route near home so you don't have to drive!

I use to walk with cousin to help train her for a 60 mile walk. She would come to me because I have hills. I loved using the map your walk web site to design our routes, I was shocked that I could get in so many miles just in my neighborhood. I use it all the time when I just take off on a walk to see how far I actually went.

Enjoy your new route and I hope you find more. It is fun to explore your neighborhood in a new way.
