Starting Today I Go It Alone

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Well, today begins my 4th year using the SP site. My start weight on Aug. 5, 2006, was 213; my goal weight is 130; over the past 3 years on the program, I have lost 19 lbs. Talk about losing weight slowly---gee, is this SLOW ENOUGH?

I have left the two teams that I was a member of, as I certainly don't have anything to contribute to the groups. And since it seems that I wasn't getting anything from my association with the teams, I am going to go it alone.

My impossible goal is to lose 64 pounds. Hah!!! Here's to this year of deprivation and dieting!

Goit alone, NO WAY! this is what spark is for, and really no one here is alone. you dont have to lose weight to contribute to a team, you being there and trying is what counts. you saying i want to do this is what matters. those are the first steps, and i am sure you can find pleanty of people or teams that are just right for you. BUT GO AND DO THIS ALONE!. i have faith you can do it alone. but i feel it is so much more motivatiing when you have someone or a team rooting you on.. dont give up it will happen. i have never been this succesful with weight loss , with out starving myself, unitl i ran into spark. give it a chance. I KNOW I KNOW 3 years is a long time for chance. but maybe you need to switch your program. a different diet. Something has to work for you. talk to the coaches that is what they are here for..

I like that your not giving up. but dont give up on us sparkies . i wish you GREAT luck! have a great day.

it can be hard to get the "mojo" back once you lose it. ave
I went through that myself - lost 20lbs and quit trying... couldn't seem to make myself do what I needed to do. I started OA and realized my WILL is "diseased" - I have lost it where food is concerned.. I was feeling weak but I refuse to give up. I know that if I quit I won't ever get to goal... If I just keep trying, looking for that motivational spark, I WILL get there... maybe like a turtle, but I'll get there.

This week I had an ah-ha moment... although my will is weak, I can align my will with my HP (God) and the journey is much smoother. I am weak, but He is strong.

I don't know what teams you were on, but there are some great teams... Emotional Eaters, Sparkability, Done Girls, Binge-Free, Overeaters... and many Christian teams to teach you how to lead with your spirit. :)

I lead a small team called Turn Around Girls which is very encouraging and another good one is Second Chance Weight Loss.

Why not check these teams out and see if you feel like you might be able to get your spark back?

Maybe you should try other teams. I was at first reluctant to join any teams and when I did, I found that some are not as active and challenging as others. Of the teams I am a member, I have found two to be helping me. I have been up and down in weight and have not reached my target weight and have been on SparkPeople about as long as you but had it not been for the support and motivation of the members of these teams, I would not be here today. Good luck to you!

You don't have to go it alone...really. If I hadn't started Spark People, I wouldn't be able to lose ANY weight. I'm at 219, and started at 233. At 5'2", that's huge. I want to lose down to 130, so how's that for a crazy goal?! I will help you in any way I can! Good luck! emoticon

Hey - I have been in that boat. Actually, I guess I AM sailing that boat right now! I dropped 40 lbs in 2007 & was so proud of myself. I was on some very active teams & had a great time. Then laziness set in and tada - 30 lbs are BACK! I'm having some trouble finding motivation, but my team members have been awesome for me! I know it seriously feels like you don't have anything to contribute to the team.... believe me I KNOW that feeling! But we all need each other. You CAN do this. Stay strong and keep smiling. It is achievable and I believe in you. emoticon
