I am so proud of myself for sticking with the couch to 5k plan this time. This is my second attempt and I'm almost done with the 5th week, so I really have done much better at staying motivated. And I love it... those were the beginning of my thoughts during tonight's workout...
Then it switched to the timeclock (which I have to carry because it's a big part of the plan) and the fact that it takes me 13 - 14 minutes to run a mile. It's supposed to take around 10. I know that I'm new to this and I know that I'm working on it, but knowing that the end of week 9 assumes that you will be running 3 miles in 30 minutes is starting to be discouraging... it seems like a very small thing now that I'm typing it... which is part of the reason I wanted to post this blog in the first place. My second theory is that I might surprise myself and actually accomplish 3 miles in around 30 minutes in the upcoming weeks.
I guess another thing that has be discouraged is that I really haven't lost any weight. Since I really started working on my weight in April, I have only lost 17 lbs. Only 7 of it has been from my workouts - the first 10 was from switching to diet drinks and slacking on the social drinking. I just thought that I would see better results. I think I look much better until I see a picture of myself, but my clothes have started to wear better.
Regardless of the negative aspects, I really enjoy my time at the track and I love accomplishing something, so I will continue with the plan no matter what. Maybe I will start to notice some change in the upcoming weeks.
