One day at a time

Well, I went to a couple of online OA meetings today. I am still powerless over food...but I'm working on it. The meetings were nice. I never considered myself obese enough to be an OA member...but it isn't about my weight. It's about my obsession with food and those dreadful late night binges that I just can't knock on my own power. The great thing about OA and sparkpeople is that I don't have to go it alone. I will have to look to a higher power and get there one day at a time.

    I agree with Luckycomet! We have to start looking at food as fuel. She is right also about giving yourself a treat, not eating all junk food, as long as it's in your calorie range. It's not just about cutting food, but rather about eating the right amount of calories and making sure the things you eat aren't feeding your cravings. Food for fuel, so many of us use food for pleasure or to numb our feelings. Don't let food be your unhappiness, learn what fuel you're eating. God bless and help you. He helped me when I asked for help losing weight. I lost 60 lbs. It's a never ending learning experience. Go girl! You can do it with support from your Spark friends.. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

OA isn't for everyone but give it a chance--it might be for you. I know its a good feeling not having to walk alone and that there are people that are out there that do care. Isolating with the food was how I got so big, reaching out to others and learning new ways of dealing with my life---well for me its helping me to lose! emoticon One day at at time..........

    You don't have to be powerless with food. I've learned that food is for fuel and not because it's there to eat. But you don't have cut out all your favorite foods. When I finish up a "mini" goal for myself, I do indulge, but I indulge within my calorie range for the day. As long as your accountable for yourself, you'll do great. My mantra is to not quit...don't ever quit. I wish you the best during your journey.

    I know the feeling but with this site I know that I can log on and hit the help button and get others support to stay away from the food. Also just by logging on to get the help it gets you out of the kitchen and away from the food. emoticon
