Hello fellow shepherds,
I've started my life as a shepherd with bummer lambs. A nearby shepherd had several orphaned lambs as they were all born at once to about 20 ewes and it was January in Wisconsin, really cold and there were twins, and single babies all coming out at once. She had quite a few bummers. I had been wanting to bottle feed lambs as I was sure this would be a beautiful way to being a small flock. Those sweet lambs, Pendleton and Iris grew into the sweetest lambs that jumped every fence I could provide and even the pasture down the road. There are certain factors leading to this decision but I will take them to the processing plant this coming weekend and it is tugging at my heartstrings and so difficult. I've never eaten much lamb meat but now I'll have a whole freezer full. Anyone else ever experience this difficulty with taking lambs to market? I would love some words from anyone regarding this.
