MAJOR Scare Today

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

So this morning I went for my annual check up and PAP smear. Fun stuff all by itself!

As my doctor was doing my breast exam, he noticed a lump. I had a breast reduction in 2002 and have a lot of scar tissue from it. He said that it was probably just the scar tissue but was concerned enough to schedule me for an emergency mammogram in the hospital next door.

The good news is that the mammogram came back clear, but it did scare the heck out of me! Now I have to be diligent in my self exams to make sure that the spot doesn't change size or shape. I'll have to get mammograms every 2 years now, instead of waiting 7 until I'm 35.

So if you haven't felt yourself up lately...go do! Or have your husband do it! Just do it!

Oh my heavens! How scary! I'm glad it turned out to be nothing serious.

P.S. He says he volunteers to examine you, preferably daily! emoticon

aacckk! That is very scary. I am so glad that you are okay.

My Mother in Law just had surgery last week to remove a cancerous lump from one of her breasts. Luckily it is in the early stages so hopefully she'll be just fine after a little radiation!

Great reminder for everyone Danielle!

Glad it was just a scare. I have to watch for scar tissue as well for the same reason.
