The Scales

Friday, July 17, 2009

I went and weighed in this morning as I usually do once a week at my Dr's rooms and to my delight I had dropped another 3kg (6.6lbs).
Then I had a panic attack for about 5 minutes, this is a lot of weight to lose in such a short time. ( Today is the start of my 14th week and I have lost 26kg (57.3lbs) So I spoke with my Dr's nurse and told her what I had been up to( meals per day and and exercise) and asked what she thought?
She said as long as I am feeling good, carry on.
So I felt better after that and I realise this type of weight loss is not going to last forever and to go back to my game plan of one day at a time.

Oh, definitely be proud of yourself, Gracie. This weight loss is nothing to sneeze at! No, as a nurse, I can tell you that as long as you're feeling great and feisty, you're cool. And the scale may slow down after awhile but don't get flustered...you're losing a lot of water right now along with the other stuff. You're doing wonderful. You're an inspiration to me and everyone else. Love ya, girl. You're really awesome!

    Grace,
That is just FANTASTIC!!! You must have been thrilled to bits! Some weeks it comes off faster than others, but usually balances out. Remember this week of 6.6 lbs for the weeks when it's 2 lbs! A loss is a loss, no matter what. I notice that the scale drops quicker for me when I'm really good about drinking my water (I try for 7 bottles--14 cups a day). It helps flush out the extra salt for me, which I tend to carry. It's great that you asked the nurse about it too and got reassurance from her. Now you can keep doing what you're doing, knowing you're doing it all right!!

    Fantastic work!!! Congrats X2.

One of the things I found worked for me was to set a number of mini goals - with non food rewards for each mini goal gained.

Keep it up - Winners never quit, quitters never win.

    Wow! That is wonderful. Congrats!
Not that I have ever had a problem losing that quickly, but my Dr. said as long as it 'averages' to 2-3 pounds a week over a year, it's fine. I'd rather have 6 than 3...or 3 than 1...but really I'll take what I can get!
