No Excuses ! No Limits ! !

Friday, July 17, 2009

Okay, so I took over this team called No Limits from another Spark-member. When I took it over, it was not very active. I tried for almost a year to revive it and breathe new life into it, to no avail. I changed the name of the team, the mantra of the team. I started new challenges, and team goals, and new threads, to no avail. I am the type of person that if you say I can't do something, I Will show you that I CAN. I just KNEW I could revive it. I changed the name of the team to No Excuses ! No Limits ! !, because my belief is that excuses are only limits that we set for ourselves. After about a year of showing up to huddle, post, and read, with little or no activity, I decided I was beat. I e-mailed Sparkpeople and asked them to delete the team. I deleted the team pic, team description, and even left the message "This team has been deleted due to inactivity". Then I got the e-mail back from Sparkpeople. It said that since there had been activity on the team within the last 30 days they could not delete it. Great ! My posting, huddling, and setting new goals and challenges made it impossible to delete the team even though I was the only one posting. I was a one man team.

I got a Sparkmail yesterday from the leader of a team that I am on. It said basically that a new challenge had been created, called No Excuses ! ! Well, that was just great ! I'm already stewing inside of myself thinking about what I should or shouldn't have done with this team with the same name, that would have made it successful. The team was called NO Excuses ! NO Limits ! ! It's what I firmly believe, and there I was setting limits for the team, because I was making excuses not to continue trying to revive it. I thought about it, tried not to think about it, stewed over it, and tried not to stew over it. Then I decided, that I just had to try one more time. So I went back to the no name, no picture, no description team, and gave it back all of it.

I don't know if I will revive this team, but I'm sure going to give it another try.
Thanks NATURALSOAPGIRL, for taking away the excuses for me.

Being a team leader is not easy. And you've put a lot of work into it already. But just post a link on your post and people will join, I'll bet.

It sounds like you have done everything you can do to revive it. Personally, I would just let it sit for 30 days and see how it goes. All you can do is give it your best and you did. emoticon job

I think all small teams come and go just because of the busyness of everyone's lives. It is hard to keep them going. But don't kill yourself trying to motivate "no one". Find a team that will be supportive of you and that you can be supportive of others and move forward. Maybe it is time to let this one die on the vine.

You are one stubborn, awesome woman! I firmly believe in No Excuses as a way to live life - a NEW WAY to live MY life. The sad thing is that we can 't delete people who aren't even on SP. That would help to weed out the non-active members and let you start over.... but I have to say - obviously there was a reason that your team wasn't deleted. SOMEBODY needs that team. Go girl!!! You can do it!

BTW - not sure if you've read Never Say Diet yet, but NO EXCUSES is the recurring theme throughout the book. It's right up your alley.

It sounds like a great team! I had never heard of it. No one seems to post on some of the teams that I am on also.

Hmm sounds familiar girl! I too have been struggling with my team Stop the Insanity I have a few that post but there are at least 60 members; where is everybody. When somebody joins a team it's usually for a reason They WANT to be there They want to gain support and motivation from others who are on the same journey. But they join and then become dead in the water as it were. But do I give up NAY I keep posting and adding new topics and challenges, motivational team e-meails you name it and even then I get little or NO response IT does get very frustrating! Oh well their loss is our gain I suppose. We'll be the winners in the end all right? Good luck !
