What to do for rewards?

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

So this week, one of my three action steps is to reward myself for 12 weeks of hard work (and getting half-way to my goal), but the original reward I set for when I got to this point is not attainable right now. I can't reward myself with anything that costs money, and I can't reward myself with time for myself because that requires my husband's cooperation and time (that he doesn't have much of). I honestly don't know what to do. AND I'm feeling pretty bummed out this week and last anyway so my commitment is falling apart too! PLUS, my workouts have gone stale and I need to try something new but can't afford new equipment, video, or a class.

Maybe I should add that I've used Coach Nicole's videos that don't involve equipment that I don't already have, as well as some free yoga videos online on another site quite a bit. (and a couple of old pilates videos) I'm just needing something new to shake things up a bit. I also walk a lot and was biking but my gears broke so I can't do that anymore either until we can afford to get the bike fixed.

Have you tried the free online Spark videos? Coach Nicole's cardio kick boxing video always pumps me up. I'm kind of in the same boat with both of us unemployed, so I try to take advantage of the free stuff. I love to read, so I've rewarded myself with a cheap paperback on occasion. I live within 3 miles of several stores, so I walk and watch the clearance racks. Anything under $5 is fair game and I've found new clothes in smaller sizes at that price range. I also walk through the neighborhoods and watch for garage sales. I signed up for E-rewards where you fill out a survey once a week or so. I earned $15 in credits that I applied to Borders to add to my book stash. To keep things interesting too, I try new recipes. EatingWell.com has lots of recipes that are budget friendly. Don't forget to pat yourself on the back! You are doing great.
