Balancing act

Sunday, July 12, 2009

This was our second weekend off as family and once again it was jam packed leaving me little time to think about anything else. So I didn't work out at all, but the good news is that our the parts to our elliptical finally came in and hubby fixed it so tomorrow I am going to put in some minutes there. I didn't really do that great with food either because we ended up eating out quite a bit. Not that it's not possible to eat healthy at restuarants, I just always struggle with that. But I had an amazing time with my family and although this is hubby's long week off this month, I am going to spend the rest of the week doing things how I should. This new routine of ours is really a balancing act for me as I have learned how to comfortably be successful at eating right and fitting in exercise when I am always home. But now that we are mixing things up I am having to learn some new habits and stick to them. I know I can do it, it's just a matter of making a plan and sticking to it. I know I have it in me, just need to find it:)

Like you said you will figure it out - count this time you spend with your family as a big blessing and enjoy each moment.

Weekends are always hard for me too. I find myself running to the computer a lot to see how many calories I've eaten. I definately need to plan better too.

I am so excited for you about getting more family time with your husband-- I think maybe that was an answered prayer of yours! You have proved it time and time again that you can and are doing this so I have faith you will make this work.

I understand it being more challenging to get your work outs in and eating right. I have trouble just getting house work done when my husband is home so I fully understand adding anything extra besides the basics but what I find helpful is --getting up before everyone else to get done what I need to, getting every ones lunch ready and having them sit down with there Dad then I go work out, I ask my husband to take them outside to play for an hour so I can get my work out in, or he will take them to go run errands so we don't have to do them later and I get my workout in while they are gone. I find I just have to be a little more creative but also I think its great that they get the alone time with just there dad for an hour!

I hope you continue to enjoy your well needed family time but that you also find a balance that works for you. Take care and good luck!
love,
Timberlee

I know when my hubby's home more it is a challenge for me to stick to my routine and having Amy here has really shaken things up. I am sticking to my exercise ok but not doing so well with the diet. It is hard for grandma to deny her requests and hard for me not to eat that stuff too when it is here. Funny thing is when I eat some of that stuff I haven't had for months my stomach doesn't seem to like it. Maybe that is a good thing;-)

I am sure you will get things lined out when you get used to your husband's new schedule. In the mean time enjoy having more time together as a family & try to make healthier choices when possible.
