Good news and bad news

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

Okay, I'll start with the bad news. Today was my 2-week SparkPeople checkup, and I am up almost 2 pounds. This maintenance thing will take some work, I think. I know my calorie ranges are higher now, but I guess I overdid it a bit. I need to start tracking again so that I get a feel for what my new calorie range feels like.

Now, for the good news. Remember I posted a few weeks ago about the algebra class that my son was not accepted into for 8th grade? Well, the principal called me today and she has decided to let a few more kids into the program, and he is one of them! I am so happy, because he really, really needs this challenge. I know it will be an adjustment for him because he is used to skating through, but it is an adjustment that he needs to make. I am so glad that I spoke with the principal about my concerns. Conversations like that make me really nervous so I often avoid them. But I pushed through and did it, and the best part is that I was heard and respected! This is a good day!

Thank goodness it's only a couple pounds! You can take care of those pretty quickly.

It's hard to stay on track without logging - at least I think so. When I stop tracking it's dangerous. I just can't estimate what I'm eating without the log. So, even when I get to maintenance, I intend to keep on logging. It's the only way, I think, that it will work for me.

I'm really happy to hear about your son! Congratulations on helping to make that happen!

Getting to maintenance is so darn difficult!!! And then I am even more terrified of how much more difficult it will be to maintain!!! Aaaack!! Anyways, congratulations on reaching maintenance! I just know you'll figure a way to make it all work!! And yippee for your son!! Challenge can be good! Especially with a caring mom who can back up her son!!
