I am not a quitter and neither are you!

Friday, July 03, 2009

As I was going thru hundreds of e-mails last night thru this morning being unable to sleep, I came across the following story now. Love it and want to share with all my spark friends who feel like quitting and others too! Usually I find Sonpari's alphabet soup profile picture that reads 'Never give up' quite motivating. However, this morning when I weighed myself I got a sticker shock of 5lbs weight gain despite lowering my salt intake! Not knowing how much of it is fluids retained and how much is the real weight gain, NOTHING inspired me!!! Especially having come down to 139lbs and now this? I felt like quitting too identifying with some of my spark friends' blogs, yeah! despite all the Rah rah!!. We are only human - lol.

Then, I saw this e-mail. The guist being, patience is what it takes. Besides if I quit, where I will be? will I be happy with the results? NO!

As I have chosen spark as my way of life, staying on track for life is what its all about....overwhelming when you think of it as for life - isn't it? But, one day at a time with moderation.......

Here are two e-mailed stories for all my dear friends to be inspired to NOT GIVE UP and I just found its video on you-tube too.

Never Never QUIT:

One day I decided to quit…I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… . I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. “God”, I said. “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”
His answer surprised me. “Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?” “Yes”, I replied. “When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. “In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. The same in year four. “Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant.

But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. “Don’t compare yourself to others.” He said. “The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.
“Your time will come”, God said to me. “You will rise high” “How high should I rise?” I asked. “How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return.
“As high as it can?” I questioned. “Yes.” He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.” I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me. And He will never give up on you. Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are essential to life.

A dog named FAITH:

This is a story about a dog who was born on Christmas Eve in 2002... He was born with 3 legs - 2 healthy hind legs and 1 abnormal front leg which needed to be amputated. Of course he could not walk when he was born. He was rejected by his mother. His first owner also did not think that he could survive. Therefore, he was thinking of putting him to sleep.

At this time, his present owner Jude Stringfellow came into his life and wanted to take care of him. She was determined to teach and train this dog to walk by himself.. She thought, all we need is a little faith. Therefore she named him 'Faith.'

In the beginning, she put Faith on a surf board to let him feel the movements of the water. Later she used peanut butter on a spoon as a lure and to reward him for standing up and jumping around. Even the other dogs at home helped to encourage him to walk. Amazingly, after only 6 months, like a miracle, Faith learned to balance on his 2 hind legs and jumped to move forward. After further training in the snow, he can now walk like a human being.

Faith loves to walk around now. No matter where he goes, he just attracts all the people around him. He is now becoming famous on the international scene. He has appeared in various newspapers and TV shows. There is even one book entitled 'With a little faith' being published about him. He was even considered to appear in one of Harry Potter movies.

His present owner Jude Stringfellow gave up her teaching job and took him around the world to preach, 'that even without a perfect body, one can have a perfect soul.'

In life there are always undesirable things. Perhaps a person who feels things are not going as well as they could will feel better if they change their point of view and see things from another perspective.

Perhaps this message will bring fresh new ways of thinking to everyone.
Perhaps everyone can appreciate and be thankful for each beautiful day that follows.

Life is the continual demonstration of the power of thinking positive and having faith. Believe in yourself. Never lose faith!!!

Hi Neeta - Thanks for the inspiring stories ...I always feel so much better and positive after reading these! I loved the last line in the first story - "Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are essential to life." and think I will add it to my SP page as a reminder that we need both good days and bad days!

I'm sure that after a couple of days, your weight will settle down again and then you will be back with all engines ready :-)
