I did it!!!

I finally did it!! I reached my goal this weekend! I went out and bought a new bathing suit (even a two piece). That was my reward and I earned it. I lost 34 pounds in about 23 weeks, which averages out to about 1.5 pounds lost per week. Some weeks were no loss, some were gains, but I 'stayed the course' and I made it! One of my 'motivational' quotes that has really helped me along the way is "Being defeated is often temporary, giving up makes it permanent". This really resonated with me, and when I had a bad weekend and gained several pounds, I used to just give up, throw in the towel and say "I can't do this". But this time, thanks to SparkPeople, I had a new attitude. I gained knowledge and support and 'permission' to have a bad day, make some bad choices, but a new attitude allowing me to realize, we are human, we make mistakes, but that doesn't have to be our 'permanent' outcome. It was temporary, it will pass, and each day is a new day, each meal is a new opportunity to make better choices and each 10 minutes is enough time to get some exercise! They say it takes 4-6 months for something to become a habit, I've been 'sparking' for almost 6 months and I'm not stopping now!!! Health, happiness, and fitness have been embraced by me and my husband asked me to be his personal trainer just yesterday so he can get fit and healthy also. The results speak for themselves. What a great Monday!!
