A Little Fatigue . . . Having Faith

Thursday, June 25, 2009

I am sustaining my cheerful mood and feeling grateful for the excellent treatment I'm getting (reducing my statistical chance of recurrence from about 25% to maybe 2-3%) but: the cumulative effect of the series of treatments is making me somewhat fatigued, just as I was told to expect. And: some redness/skin reaction, also as I was told to expect. Which will culminate about 2 weeks after the last treatment (there are 6 to go).

So I'm not feeling able to get to the gym for my usual vigorous workouts every day, will have to take it easier, do what I can, keep on the programme from a nutrition-tracking perspective (not too hard, since appetite is also quite a bit reduced) and just have faith that I WILL do what exercise I can and get back into the full exercise routine (as I always have) when it's possible to do so.

This isn't a race, there is no deadline, I'm only 3 pounds from goal: and it will happen.

Hello again, thanks for the message on my last blog. I look forward to hearing from you. Hope you didn't overdo with the gardening! I know I put in several hours Saturday, and needed a nap (which I didn't get) afterwards. Being tired is the worst thing in the world compared to the others I see when I go into treatment every morning. I can tell (plus they told me) that they have had chemo, too, and that is scary. Putting the "poison" into your body knowing it will make you sick and lose your hair and perhaps burn your insides....we have got it easy I think, huh? The end is in site and the garden will be there for us......

I am sure that you are feeling worn out from the treatments. After all you are fighting a battle and that takes a lot of energy. Don't worry so much about how much you work out when you are feeling fatigued. Number 1 priority is to allow your body to heal. You have such a wonderful outlook.
Thanks, by the way for the comment on my blog. Always nice to get a little encouragement. Know that my prayers are with you. May God grant you a full recovery!
In Him,
Cindy

Hi there, thanks for the nice comments on my blog of Wednesday I think. Yes, after 11 radiation treaments (25 to go!) I am starting to feel tired, as the they advised. Hits me in the afternoon. Today I worked a long day, but tomorrow I am leaving a little early as I have a dinner dance to go to. No redness to speak of, but I am faithfully using aloe vera 3-4 times a day. Finally got my time set for 8:45 am every morning from now on (unless I need to reschedule). Its not so bad geting it done first thing in the morning and less disruptive to my schedule.

I like the people at the clinic, they are very nice and its pretty easy to keep a cheerful face. There are so many other people there with worse burdens to bear.
emoticon I am soooooooooo blessed.

emoticon on only 6 more treatments and 4 pounds to your goal! I am so impressed!

Looking forward to maintaining with you some time in the future. I'm here if you need me.

All the best,

John

You know you are such a fighter. Yes you will make it to goal as you have so much strength inside of you even though your body doesn't right now. Once you do I will be shouting on the roof tops with you girl. emoticon

This is no race and your correct about that. This is a lifestyle change for all of us. The only race I might be doing is racing towards the bathroom from all the water. emoticon

Thanks for being you!

Marilyn
