I was at a Benedictine priory this past weekend for a solo retreat. I'm not Catholic, but it didn't matter. The priory offers a hostel-type setting for anyone who wishes to have a little peace and quiet.
I had a really lovely, relaxing, and rejuvenating weekend. I spent most of the time alone, doing some reading, journaling, meditation, planning some art projects, walking in the woods, etc. I only saw the sisters at meals, and they were very pleasant to spend time with. It felt like spending time with any other group of positive, kind women.
I was surprised when I came home to find that I hadn't gained any weight, because the food was really good! But I made good choices throughout the weekend...fresh fruits and vegetables, a little protein, the occasional dessert, popcorn as an evening snack.
The weekend really slowed me down and relaxed me. Today I didn't have to set my alarm to go to work, and I slept in! I'm going to try to keep that non-stressed feeling going for a while.
