THAT'S HOW WINNING IS DONE!

Monday, June 22, 2009

It's the last week of Round 1's Rocky Challenge.

And yes, I've already got the water works going on here.

I've had the hardest time blogging during this challenge. It has nothing to do with my pregnancy, it's my team.

It took about a week before I realized that I had been blessed with some of the most inspirational and motivational people I've ever come across. Every day I read a blog or comment and I'm moved. The thoughts run through my head but I just can't get them out. All I can do is absorb it all in and let it settle.

I think that most of us came into this challenge with the thought of losing weight or inches. No one had a clue about what it was all about and I made sure of that by not giving away details. It was never about weight and inches, it was about...I don't know, closing your eyes and jumping in, doing it not because you said you would but because in the end, you wanted to. I never wanted you all to see those work outs and instantly think, "I can't do that." I wanted you all to let go...give in, not give up. I wanted you to look at the challenge before you and I wanted you to think, reflect off each other and look back down and say, "I want to do this" I wanted you to let go of all the negative thoughts and give into something you had never done before. I wanted you to say, "Maybe I can never win but hell, I can go the distance, I can earn my own respect."

I didn't put you on my team, the Red team, because I thought it would put me ahead in this whole "game". I just randomly picked you and went with it. I'm glad for that, I couldn't have picked a better team. In the end I got what I aimed for, a group that didn't aim for the number but aimed for the dream.

Week one we made fools of ourselves by yelling out, "HEY, MY NAME IS ROCKY BALBOA!"

Week two we let it sink in and decided, "IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I LOSE THIS FIGHT CAUSE ALL I WANT TO DO IS GO THE DISTANCE."

Week three we knew what we wanted and demanded it from not only ourselves but from other's, "YOU WANT YOUR RESPECT, COME GET IT!"

Week four...

Well it's the last week, what can I say that you all haven't already said in the past 3 weeks?

We all know what we want and how to get it so this week, let's show ourselves, each other and everyone around us how it's done.

HEY, MY NAME IS ROCKY BALBOA!

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE NUMBERS!

THERE ARE NO EXCUSES!

YOU GOT TO TAKE THE CHALLENGE!

EARN YOUR RESPECT!

KEEP ON PUSHING!

GO THE DISTANCE!

"THAT'S HOW WINNING IS DONE!"-ROCKY BALBOA

Team Red, let's do it. Together, let's show them all how winning is done.

Hugs and love to you all!-Kat

Kat, your challenge inspired me to push harder, dig deeper and expect more of myself than I thought possible. It was all about seeing myself in a new way - a stronger person than I ever imagined!! Thank you for inspiring me and leading me to see myself as a person who can go the distance, not to win the fight, but to just prove to myself that I did it.

This blog (just like this challenge) is such an inspiration and is truly motivating. You're correct...I had no idea what I was in for when I signed up for this challenge; I just knew I needed something to help me re-focus. Thanks for this challenge and for being the type of team-leader who not only inspires and motivates, but dreams with us as we wage this war against what my daughter likes to call "The Fat-ness". She isn't making fun of people who have weight issues, just allowing those of us who do have these issues an opportunity to not take ourselves so seriously while taking our health and fitness concerns very seriously.

Thanks again!
You ROCK!

Thank you for this challenge Kat! It truly is life changing. If I had seen the amount of strength training we had to do before signing up for this challenge, I definately would not have done it. But because of you & this challenge I am so much stronger now & know that I can go the distance. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for a great challenge and for being such a motivational leader. I was just thinking that I didn't even really lose and weight this month but then you added in that it is not just about the numbers and that made me feel better. Thanks.

Thanks Katrinia for the challenge! If I had known all that we were to do, I probably would have passed-at my age, my weight, my fitness level, my workload, etc., etc. But it was worth it in the end.
GO RED-FINISH STRONG! emoticon

I agree with Jenn! You took a bunch of people who may or may not have known each other (at least virtually) and lit a fire under us that made us all rally around and pull together. Sure, in the end we all want to lose weight or inches, but I have noticed from the comments, it's not the inches or the weight that most of us are so proud of...it's the simple fact that something inside is differnet, we have more endurance, we feel prouder of ourselves...all those things are way more important and way harder to come by than lost weight and inches!!

Kat, you are amazing!! And the RED team LOVES ya!!

Kat I think you acomplished something here and it's not a loss or a win for the team or anything like that...it's a spirit. Rocky running to the top of the steps in the movie...he wanted to prove he could do something becuase it seemed impossible. You embody the spirt of "Can Do' and really in the end of 4 weeks even if you didn't lose a pound but you tired, you've won. Because it's about not giving up even when it feels impossible. It's about trying your hardest to make a difference...sometimes in your own life, sometimes in someone elses. I think I can pretty much speak for everyone on the Red Team by saying you made a difference in each of our lives...maybe not for the same reasons, but for one reason or another special to each one of us as individuals and as a team. We can all say it doesn't matter if we win or lose, becuase it's not about that, it's about going the distance and in one week we can all say we did! Thank you!
