Irresponsible Pet Owners

I HATE THEM!

Coming home from running errands today, I saw a small kitten lying dead in a construction area. It was in the middle of a business area and had no business being there. WHY do people have pets, then let them have litters that they have no intentions of taking care of?! That poor little kitten never had a chance at life, and seeing it there just made me cry.

I remember when I was young, that a lot of people let their dogs run loose, but they were taken care of and didn't get into too much trouble. I am glad that it isn't a common sight anymore to see dogs loose, but the same cannot be said for cats. I see more cats now than ever that are running loose and wild. People think that cats are disposable and can take care of themselves. Up to a certain point, yea they can, but it's not easy for these stray cats! Always looking for food and trying to stay out of the way of cars and people. Yea, what a great life, huh?

A woman I work with has been complaining of cats spraying and killing her bushes. Instead of finding out who the owners are, she traps the cats. So what does she do then? Takes them far away and dumps them off! She's done this twice now and brags about it. I cannot even stand to be near her for fear of screaming at her or something worse!

We've had cats and dogs all throughout my life and wouldn't dream of treating them so bad. The cat we have right now was the kitten of a mother that was dumped where I work. I took the kitten and another girl took the momma. But there are always more.

If I could have one wish come true, it would be for everyone to treat these animals with some respect and lots of love, providing them with some food and shelter would be nice too. And spay or neuter them if you can't or won't take care of any babies!

Sorry to go off on such a rant, but I just had to get it out. That kitten is going to haunt me for awhile.

Me too, I am a big time animal advocate, make a automatic monthy donation to ASPCA, and (I do not have children) in my will, my entire estate is left to ASPCA in the event my husband passes before me, I mean I am a ardent animal lover. I have three dogs, all rescues, of course. I am allergic to kittys, my husband loves cats, but we cannot have them in our house. I think it is wrong to leave cats out, they belong in the house, where they are safe, "outdoor" cats have a very short lifespan, the streets are not safe for small animals.

I also am a strong advocate of spaying or neutering, there are plenty of unwanted pets, and most pet pregnances are unplanned, then the owner gives the pups or kittens to any body who will take them, it is not a good thing.

I cannot believe that woman at your office does such horrible things, and brags about it, you know animal cruelty is a crime? It is not punished harshly enough, but still is against the law. Well, God sees her, and "every dog has their day".

I have gave many a dog a ride in the LLV, finding their owner when they got out of the fence after a storm, or escaped a dog sitter, I always remind them to put the name and phone number on the collar, at least we can get them home if they get loose.

People really need to wake up and be responsible and respect living things.

Off of my soapbox now.

OH that horrible woman and all that are so heartless. My sister lives in such a country area where people just dump their cats. She traps them and takes them to the vet, nuetered and feeds them all. I think she has well over 30 she would love to find homes for. Such a crime.

Hugs D

OOOHHHHH don't get me started. I could rant on this on a daily basis.

At our most we had 6 dogs and 10 cats living with us. Our neighbor spent hundreds of dollars on a dog they keep inside and gets a cat and makes it live outside where she got pregnant and you guessed it, had kittens that went to the aspca cause no one wanted them.

Sorry I got a little started. emoticon

But what is worse if there is an older cat there at the aspca when they get there, they have no hope of getting adopted over the kittens. emoticon

Go a head and rant...I agree with you. There are too many unwanted cats out there left to fend for themselfs. By the way I love your cat pictures..very cute.

Go ahead and rant! I am right there with you! Our cat, Kirby, was brought into the vets office where my sister-in-law worked. She was nearly dead. She was infested with fleas so badly she was anemic and needed a blood transfusion. My sister-in-law called us saying if they had a home for the cat the vet would save its life otherwise she would put her down. The vet did all the work to save the cat for free and then spayed her for free when she was old enough!! We love our cat. I hate that people think that animals do not need love and care.
