Feeling Amazing!

Saturday, June 13, 2009

I really like how my body feels when I lift weights and do cardio.
I knew I had to get back on track if I planned on being around to see my kids grow up and have kids of their own.
In November 08 I found this site and it has changed me in so many awesome ways it would take pages to explain.
I was taking on challenges that didn't stretch me too far out of my comfort zone or demanded too much.
I'm 2 weeks into a fairly intense challenge and I'm feeling amazing!!!
The first week I did everything I was suppose to do physically, however I had to hurdle my mental and emotional baggage from the past that threatened to make me quit the challenge.
Thankfully, I pushed through it.
My exercise bulimia which has been quiet for a very long time reared it's crazy head and was telling me that it was ok to eat more because I was exercising and I was burning calories so why not?! I used to get away with eating more when I exercised until I hit the mid 20's.
I can't do that anymore. There is this irrational fear that I will starve to death if I don't eat more. Again, it's an old fear.
Then there is sabatoge. Another enemy that has returned to drive me crazy.
The whole self talk about not deserving to be thin, it doesn't matter anyway - it will just get you in trouble when you get the attention from being thin - you're such a flirt! Your husband will be jealous.
You can't do it, you won't do it, you'll give up and give in. You know you can't resist arena food, festival food, the carnival is coming - mmmm, carnival food.
blah! blah! blah!
I'm here to say Guess What bulimia and sabatoge - YOU'VE BEEN VOTED OFF THE ISLAND!!!
You're bags are packed, the boat is waiting. Say your goodbyes!!!!
I haven't felt better in at least 3 years. I have more energy, I have eating freedom most meals in the week, my clothes are getting loose, I'm learning how to eat in the "real world" - not on some crazy diet that has no carbs, or just this or just that.
I'm making better choices about me, and for me.
My challenge Team rocks the house - Go Rocky Blues!!!
And my Team Leader Shell is amazing. So supportive!

Thanks Andi for your words of wisdom and referring me over to your blog. I'm fighting tooth and nails to get where you are and ship off those negative thoughts to never, never land. One thing I truly enjoy of SP is that somewhere, someone always feels and knows what you're talking about. They know what you're going through or have been where you are. When I hear that, I feel comforted in knowing that there is a way out, that I just need to keep going. So thanks for sharing with me, I appreciate it.

And continue your success, there's always a bit of clouds and thunder before you see some blue skies!!! Guess it's not how you run the race, but how you finish it, so I'm going to finish this race even if I have to kick my own butt to get it done!!!

It's great to feel that way, isn't it?? I agree, I am not on a fad diet anymore....no carbs, no protein,.. NO FOOD!! Now that I have come to grips with food (most days anyway) I feel better about everything. Congrats for BEING IN CONTROL!!! Thats the key.
Best of luck on your weight loss journey!!! emoticon Now is the time. emoticon

Isn't it amazing when the realizations hit you and you respond differently. I've had a few of my own this week too.
Keep working at what your body truly needs and kick those pesky old thoughts to the curb.
