HELP!!!

Thursday, June 11, 2009

I'm so confused! The doctor says to do only what I can and stop when it hurts. That with therapy the nerve will heal with time (2 months). The physical therapist says don't do anything until Tuesday when I'm reassessed for the new PT order I got from the doctor today. No Water, No upper body work, NOTHING! Just the heat, stretches and ice to treat this dadblasted pinched nerve.

I want to get better, but I want to do what I can to stay on track with some strength and cardio work. I'm still learning the difference between good and bad pain, so I think I better follow the therapist advice and wait to get more direction on Tuesday.

There's got to be a way to burn the calories I eat between now and then. That's my concern right now, not gaining the weight I've lost already. And yet I don't want to starve myself either. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!

Because I was on such an intense roll with excersing (probably how I pinched the nerve) my colorie intake was automatically increased by the nutrition tracker. By not being able to be as active as I've been the last couple of weeks my calorie intake should be reduced. I guess I'll ignore the current range, eat fewer calories and wait until the tracker makes the adjustment to my being less active.

I can't be the only one to have ever been in this place. And at this point I'm not even sure what questions to ask to get help. HELP PLEASE!!!

Follow your therapist advice!!!!! Your health is more important than a few calories over the next few days. I understand how you feel though - this is what I face when I've been sick. I need to rest to get better but I hate being derailed. Remember the long term goal though is health.

Mary, I am so sorry to hear about the conflict! I would follow the therapist at this stage and go back to what you started out at with the calorie range. Do you remember what it was? I did ask my doctor about the increase in calories because I was more active, and he told me to ignore it. Of course, I was no where near where you were. If you are tracking your food, I think you can go back in the tracker and find your original ranges. Lately, it has not changed for me. I will keep you in my prayers and ask God to bring you relief as soon as possible.
