What a day

We started to set up for the mural. It started to rain. We waited until the rain let up, then went to work.
At class change time, a girl came by with a kitten - just past the roly poly stage, beginning to thin out and grow more catlike. Siamese, just beautiful. She explained that the kitten had been in the cafeteria, they caught it, but no one would take her to the animal shelter. Phebe to the rescue has the animal shelter phone # on speed dial, so I called and eventually they were at the desk, answered, sent someone about half an hour later - after we fed the kitty, everyone played with it (gently!), and a few girls cuddled it.
Finished mural work. Cleaned up. Then had to go to a meeting with people re a data warehouse that is being discussed for the Dept of Ed, which would provide longitudinal views of our students, their achievement on tests as well as grades, disciplinary action, info from other agencies such as social services, etc. - and as chair of our school improvement team, the principal wanted me there.
It's 1 PM, I haven't had lunch, I haven't done grades (due next week), my shoes are soaking wet still, and I have a dance group rehearsing in my classroom for next week's talent show.
I'm so ready for summer!
