Tired people often turn to food, too, to replenish their energy.

Monday, June 01, 2009

This is for sure the case. I find it so hard to distinguish hunger from being tired when I pass certain signs and keep pushing through the night when I should be winding down....see here I am again. It is after midnight and there always seems to be just one more thing. Turning off the tv (or other electronics) by a certain time should be on my new habits to work on list. Tonite I took a late powerwalk and feel energized still.

So coming back to being tired...I notice that I'll keep eating one thing after another being too tired to recognize that I really don't need to be eating more, but eating rather to keep awake. When I do stop, then do I realize that darn I was tired because I really have no energy to clean up the kitchen or put any leftovers away.

What I need are good options so I can modify my behavior. I've started reading more. But often it has been magazines that have nutritional subjects or even food ads - not helpful!

Maybe there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything.

You just gave me an Ah Ha moment! I am pretty anemic and I get iron infusions for it. So every 6 months I am due for an infusion and there are about 2-3 weeks where I am sluggish and pretty much feel like a sloth. I'm at that point right now and I'm going through my kitchen cupboards and fridge for something to "help"? I need to get it through my head that food won't help boost me up, although I will use caffine to get me through the day, but I need to switch my thinking when that time comes. So thank you for your post, I hadn't eaten breakfast yet and the leftovers from supper the night before were looking pretty good. Now I'll grab something better for me.
Thank you!

There's nowhere near enough hours in the day.. I could use another 10 hours and I still wouldn't get everything done! The best we can do is make the most of the hours we have and be happy with it. :)

I've heard it helps to brush your teeth. It gets the taste of food out of your mouth. Drink a glass of water. Wait 5 minutes to see if you are still hungry.

Good luck...if you solve this you should look into world peace!

Whenever I "feel" hungry, I start by drink an 8oz glass of water and wait 5 minutes. That helps me determine I am really hungry or if I'm bored, tired...

Have you tried this?

Janey
