So as many of my friends know I was in a car accident at the end of January. Since then there have been many changes in my life and I started helping out more with my bf's 91 year old grandfather and basically living with them. I've worked out once in February, but have had quite a few months off without any exercising at all. Well I just joined a Brick Bodies by my new apartment and today was my first day there. It was wonderful... but guess what? I RAN A 5k ON THE TREADMILL!!!! I was almost done the C25k program, but have NEVER done a 5k. The longest I've jogged was 25 mins. The treadmill was so nice... it had little fans, a tv (which I had on the dance music channel lol), and a 5k loop setting where it showed you were you were at on a track and how much further you had to complete your 5k. It took me 42.5 mins (5 min warm up walk and 37.5 min jog/run). I am so proud of this accomplishment. I didn't think I could do it.... especially after having done zero exercising in months. Afterwards I swam for a little bit. My sister just got a job as a lifeguard at the gym, so it was nice swimming and hanging out with her. It was a fabulous day and I feel great. The gym is only a mile from my apartment and I am hoping to get into a routine so that once I start teaching in the area in Sept I can keep going after school. My triathlon I signed up for is in August. I'm not quite sure I'm going to be able to swim a half of a mile, bike 15.5 miles, and then run a 5k in 80 days.... but we'll see.
