My DH's garden!

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Well, it is that time again and my DH has a beautiful garden!

We have Vidalia Onions
Potatoes
Ripe Corn
and coming soon
Tomatoes and
Cucumbers
Watermelons
and more corn!

Come join us for dinner!

**Ray's garden is about 1/4 acre for those curious. He has 3 plantings of corn and he "suckers" the tomatoes to keep having fresh plants. I forgot to take a picture of the cantaloupes! I thought they were more cucumbers, lol.

The bad news is the gardens here in Mississippi are pretty much spent by July due to the heat and bugs. But we can generally keep the tomatoes until September/October or the first frost.

**I have recently learned that "Victory Gardens" are coming back into style! Bring on the fresh veggies!!

Linda, Don't go inviting me for a dinner of veggies or I might just take you up on it!!! haha You are so lucky to be in a climate where your growing season starts and lasts so long. Around here we now have asparagus and will soon , 3 weeks or so, have strawberries and so on. Nothing is ripe here till mid July and our corn comes in ate the mid to end of August. Hey, we just got the leaves on the trees finally LOL.

I want to thank you for your standup attitude that this is something we all can acieve. I love your candour and the straightforward assistance and answers you supply so many of us with, You truely make a difference in many, many lives.

    Thanks for sharing your pictures.
There's nothing like homegrown veggies!
I'm curious about your corn: are your corns on the cob for eating grilled or for flour or cornmeal and hominy grits?

Marty, if you are driving down can you swing by my house and pick me up. It all looks great. Maybe we should have a virtual dinner party.

Looks like Ray must have Quite the Green Thumb, but
can we all come for dinner, LOL

I was close to posting pictures of my tomatoes,
but my garden is a far cry from Ray's.

We have a container garden out on our back patio,

Enjoy all those delicious veggies nothing better than home grown!
