Living the wild life in STT

When I went to leave for work this morning, I found a 5 inch centipede wiggling in front of the door - the nasty mean biting kind, but wiggling because we have slick tile and he was having trouble getting all those legs to work on the sliding surface. I hate centipedes - they come right below rats and roaches and tarantulas on my freak out scale - so I ran and got DH and got a broom - DH opened the door and hockey-shot the centipede out and down the walkway, all the way to a pile of rocks where it skittered away.
I got to school, and found a group of students gathered around a plant bed at the middle of the stairs, right by our mural - there was an iguana in there, and the kids were too afraid to move it, but were still fascinated by the thing. I sent one student down to get the big garbage can from outside my room, and sent another to get a broom from our storage room. Then I climbed over the stair railing and into the plant bed, and tried to scoop the iguana into the garbage can - I've done this before, but it's easier on concrete sidewalks vs. dancing around bushes and palm trees. The iguana fought me all the way, and finally dashed around the can and jumped over the side of the planter - causing mass pandemonium as students (boys and girls) shrieked and ran out of the way - poor iguana ran down the upstairs corridor, was blocked by freaked out students, and the iguana jumped over the ledge into the planted area downstairs - where he figured out which way to run and managed to escape.
Quite the exciting morning. I'm kind of afraid to see what happens later on today.
