Blog Prompt - How has weight loss changed my life?

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Well, the obvious answer is my clothes fit now.

But really this question digs deeper into my soul.

I had a really good self-image of the real me, the one living inside my shell. I am an honest and trustworthy person with confidence in my own abilities.

Weight loss has changed my outer shell and now I believe I walk with a better outward appearance, like an "I can do this, I did this!" attitude. I love when people stop me and ask me if I lost weight, but I love it because it gives me a chance to not only say yes, but to tell them how to do it too!

The questions I am asked most often are, How, How Long and Did you lose it by walking? The last is the difficult question because walking helped a lot, but walking didn't make me lose weight. Counting calories is how I lost weight, walking is how I burned extra calories to help me lose weight.

Back to the question, how has weight loss changed my life? I now make more intelligent selections of my foods and am eating so much healthier that I feel like I am glowing inside and out! And even on the days I don't feel like exercising I do still get in my walking. I feel better after a good long walk or an exercise session.

Weight loss has given me back my life!

**Thanks Marty! Yes, I have "walked in their shoes."
At 210, I definitely experienced Obesity and can relate to others still living with it. My goal in life is similar to SparkPeople's in that I would love to help anyone looking to take off this extra poundage.

Keep doing all the great things you do, Linda. You help me every day, whether you know it or not. Sometimes I just think of one of your pic's and I smile and get on with the task at hand. I do so appreciate all you give to everyone, everyday,

I can SO relate to "more intelligent selections of my foods and am eating so much healthier..."

Even when I get so completely off track that I don't even remember everything I ate, so I KNOW I haven't recorded it all and mark that by choosing not to get feedback for the day, I still notice that I have made progress in changing my habits towards healthier eating because the things I have recorded are different.

Just one example: I'm eating oranges and apples, but I'm not drinking orange juice. That's important!

That's exactly the kind of example you're setting, and thanks for setting it!

    OMG Linda,
you are one of my favorite people on earth!
Yours was one of the very first success stories that I read that got me hooked.
I love your down to earth, common sense outlook on life and health.
Thank you so much.

Isn't it amazing when others notice and give you compliments? It was not an easy
or overnight journey. It took time, patience, perserverance, dedication and faith
in yourself to get where you are today. Take pride in your accomplishments!
