Saving tip if you use a Swiffer

Friday, May 22, 2009

It started with me buying a new t-shirt (about 2 dollars). I soon found out that it smelled like old sweat after a few hrs and it was catching the cat hair like a magnet. Ok then I can use it for dusting so I cut it up in small pieces, same size as those for my Swiffer (dust/hair remover for the floor) and I tried it with my Swiffer and it is even better than the original clothes (single use) you can buy for the Swiffer. Now I use those clothes from the T-shirt and they are easy to clean with a little hand soap and water. That means that I can save around 80 dollars per year by reusing those clothes from the T-shirt as I clean every day with them. What an easy way to save some money.

It has to be fabric that is getting static electric very easy or it will not work for the hair and fine dust. Normal cotton will just carry most of the hair and fine dust around.

Thanks for the tip. I use one wet mop swiffer pad when I clean my floors, I fill a bucket with vinegar and water (I have hardwood floors) and rinse and reuse the pad to clean all the floors, but never thought about using a cotton t-shirt to dust the floors, which I do daily also. Great tip! Thanks!
