WHAT A BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

My birthday start out nice as a cool sunny day. Everything was going great day. Then our 19 year old grandson who is living with us while going to college, went out the door. He came back in and said "I'm going to have a baby!", he left again, then returned in a few seconds and said " and I'm getting married in a year." With that he got in his car and left, leaving me up in the air. He came back in 10 minutes and explained everything. I was shocked at first but by the time he came back I was straight with it.

Everything is going to work out and they are going to finish school, which was the one thing I was worried about. They will live with us and we will make it work. His mother had 2 kids before she finished high school. She was our real challenge.

This was the best birthday present I got because it was the only one I got. Everyone else just didn't want to celebrate it and ignored it. With my grandson's present it is the best birthday present I got, including having my youngest daughter on my birthday. I guess I am just taking my hurt out here. They did the same thing for Mother's Day. I guess they just don't want to have a mother

Well this is Sharon again 6 years later and I had enough of my controling and disrespectful husband and 4 grown kids with teens of their own. I packed up one day 2 years ago June and moved to Florida on my own. I have never been happier and they still won't have anything to do with me. Well when I die they will get a big surprise in my will, $1 each. My 2 granddaughters that talk to me all the time are getting everything. $100,000 each for their own. I love all my grandkids unconditionally but they have to learn the benefits of their deeds.

I'm so sad with the neglect you got on your birthday and mothers day.
So hug yourself and love yourself and take yourself out on your "days" and let the others in your family fix their own dinners etc.
Hugs from me to you!
Rhonda
P.S. I'm taking myself to get a pedicure for the first time in my life as my B'day present to myself!

Happy Birthday! Those years my former spouse would over look special days, I still treated myself to a bakery cake and simply bought myself a nice present. There's a reason he's my former spouse. lol

Congrats on the new great-grandbaby on the way and good for them to plan on staying in school.

If my 19 year old daughter came home with the same news, I'm not sure I'd be as graceous as you are being... but then again, she's on a military scholarship and she'd loose her free ride for the next three years (about another $80,000 worth)

As she says, "Babies and bad grades right now are not an option."

Sharon, thats the very best thing to do get the hurt out, don't bottle it up.
You are not alone, Mothers Day, Birthdays, Christmas can be very lonely times if your family are not into celebrating and making a fuss of you.

It is sad that these days so many are left to celebrate alone. But it is a fact of life for many of us. So wish we had known it was your birthday ad we could have had a celebration in the Team for you.

But not too too late. Check out the Birthday in the House Thread and click on the link.

You are a sweet person to be looking after your grandson in the first place, and even doubly so that you are going to take his wife to be and baby into your home.

Love and best wishes for a wonderful year. You deserve it.

Love Wispy.

It's wonderful that you are supportive and able to help them. It's not easy to have a child and be a student (been there, done that), and that education is so important for the future of ALL three of them. Get them condoms or whatever they need to delay another pregnancy until AFTER graduation

Congrats on the impending great grandchild!! I haven't gotten a birthday present in more years than I care to count. (My birthday was Saturday and hubby didn't even get me a card. No excuse since he does all the shopping and had plenty of time.) After a certain age I think they don't mean much anymore anyway. The important thing is that you're getting healthier by the day; and it's much better than the alternative. emoticon

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND BEST WISHES!!

Important dates go with not frills or whistles or baloons.
My kdis the same way. Yes they are busy but when my parents were around we always made it a special day. I used to cry but now just ignore the day myself. Mothers day I did laundry and cleaned.

I think as we get older the kids are too involved with their own families and celebrations. We have had our turn as young parents. Don't feel to bad or alone. A lot of us have been there and done that!! Congratulations on soon becoming a great grandmother. How exciting. Your grandson is very lucky to have such an understanding grandma.

and don't think about your kids and everyone else the same thing happened to me but my son is so busy trying to keep his little family afloat (and they have been married 11 years now) that any celebration is an afterthought as they are both working so hard that's ok it was this time and i know they love me you know in your heart your family loves you and they will come around when they think of it it's NOT the DAY it's the all the time stuff and you know they are there for you
love and hugs my friend

Congratulations and good luck to them. That's a lot to have on your plate, but when I was young I did it all, too. Now I just sit back and shake my head. Happy belated birthday and take care of yourself!
