Shopping Nightmare

Sunday, May 17, 2009

Today I went shopping. I need a new outfit for an occasion coming up next week-end. Since I am very short and plus sized, I starting looking for clothes in Women's Petite. I went to several stores and saw some beautiful outfits for plus sizes, but the pants were about 2 feet too long, and the sleeves of the blouses covered my hands. So I thought, "Maybe they'll have something my size in the Petite dept." Yeah, right. The biggest size in Petite I found was 16... haven't been in that size in a while. I would LOVE to find a store that just catered to Women's Petite sizes, and true Petite, not just say that and STILL be inches too long. Does anyone know of such a store, or is this world just made for tall, thin people?

I don't know where you are in Kentucky so I am not sure what is near you. I find JC Penney and Catherine's both to be good sources. You do have to get there at the right time to find a good selection of Women's Petite.

    Good luck in your shopping

I'm 5'3" which may not be as "petite" as you are but I have the same problem. I quit buying dresses because they were so long. I wear capris a lot.
Another reason I want to lose weight is to shop and have a better selection of clothing.

Good luck shopping. Sometimes Mervyn's would have clothes that fit me well but they all closed down around here.

Hey Ky, I was going to suggest the Avenue too. They have some really cute things there and Lane Bryant is a good store to shop at as well. Also check the plus sizes in your department stores. I'm sorry you are having a hard time finding something. I hope you find what you are looking for soon!

I am 5'4" but have very short legs, so I need petite pants. I also wear a size 20 or 22. I find all my slacks at either Lane Bryant or Avenue. Hopefully they have branches in your area! If you go, be sure to look first for the Short or Petite designation, then find a size. Not all items come in Petite lengths!!

There are a couple of on-line stores or catalogs places I know. One is Lane Bryant's. They had a couple of stores in the Okla City. Due to the economy they closed them down. I know they didn't close all their stores and I am still getting their catalog. The other store here in Okla City is called Catherine's. I have the same problem. I stand 5'2 and weigh over 250 pounds. I have found clothes at both of these stores. I am afraid they are not extremely cheap.

Not for sure if you hae this store where you're from but I'd try Avenue. I am rather tall but I have a friend that's 5'2 (size 18) and she buys alot of clothes there. Good luck!!! emoticon

I am also short and everything is too long, legs and sleeves. I don't want to spend money on things I have to hem. Where I live, Dillards has the largest petite department with the most sizes. I don't what your occasion is, but you might be able to find a skirt and top rather than pants. Good luck!
