Back to Zero

Tuesday, May 05, 2009

Back to zero. I have gained almost everything I have lost since I joined Sparkpeople. 10 lbs are left from my 20 which is a bit frustrating to be honest.

I was/am a bit overwhelmed with the changes in my life.. with this status of being in between. Eating fast food since I don't want to go grocery shopping for those temporary housing time. All those excuses I had my whole life.. my move from Italy to Germany was a desaster, my home looks like after an invasion. Time after work is blocked from getting better into the topics at the new job.. during the weekends I am trying to get a structure into my home.

I have to minimize here.. so today I cancelled some teams, stepped out of challenges. I just have to concentrate on me again and not on providing the results for challenges or weigh-in days.

So, I am starting over... again..

Barbara.. Im a firm believer in starting over now and then. I believe that every day is a chance at a new beginning. I also know all about gaining back what was once lost. You are a strong lady who I believe will over come. Baby steps my friend. HUGS, Lori

Barbara, don't be to hard on yourself. Changes are difficult, especially moving to another country (whether back home or not it's still stressful) and/or starting a new job.

I am happy your determination and energy is still very much there to support you on your fitness trip. We are here for you. Always. YOU CAN DO IT and YOU WILL DO IT.

It's natural to feel frustrated when you gain back some of the weight you've lost. But you've got all the tools you need here to get back on track...but focus on yourself. We're all here for you!

I think I agree with HIPPICHICK. It's not about you having messed up or done anything wrong. It's about you needing to prioritize, and right now, SP and your major weight loss efforts need to take a backseat to you getting your life in order again.

I also think you're right - you shouldn't feel obligated to do things for other people, and you did the right thing by stepping down from some of your SP obligations. Because if it's not about you, then why are you doing it?

I hope your life settles down soon! I know how much this journey has meant to you so far, and I know you'll be happy to get back into it when you can.

Sometimes we can get ourselves in too far too fast and it overwhelms us. I'm sure that's part of the reason I stopped here a couple times. My father thinks that I'm overdoing it now but I normally don't agree. :) It feels great and I know that if I cannot do it that day, it's okay. :) Anyway, I'm glad you made a decision that is good for you and I wish you all the best. :) Keep up the great work and drop me a line if you ever need support/motivation/ a talk. :)

Sorry that you're going through so much. I can't imagine!

Understanding that you need to prioritize some may I just suggest that you take one thing, walking, drinking enough water, eating minimum fruits/veggies, just pick one and keep that a part of your new life - that way when the dust settles, you'll already have one 'change' accomplished, a building block so to speak.

We'll be here for you when you get back!!!

You know what I think? I think you need to change how you say what is happening to you.

For example: You are on a hiatus from weight loss because your life is in a huge state of flux.

Let's face it. You have moved from one country to another. Moving is apparently more stressful than a death in the family according to studies. With that kind of stress: tons of paperwork pre-move; the actual journey; a new workplace; your movers doing a crappy packing job, losing and breaking stuff too, etc. it's no wonder you have gained some weight. STRESS!! BUT you are NOT starting over.

You have learned too much to consider yourself to be starting over. You are going to continue this weight loss journey when your work life has smoothed out and your home is cleaned up and organized (which I'm sure you can log as fitness minutes!). Downsizing here is also a good idea. We'll miss ya, but you have to take care of you first.

I have a tip for you. You can buy a crock pot and cook some nutritious meals just by chucking a bunch of good food in, turning it on and walking away.

Good Luck Barbara!! I'm sending positive vibes overseas. I wish I could be there to help you out!
