I am going to change!!! ( This time for sure?)

Monday, April 13, 2009

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2000. I had a staff infection on my leg, that would not heal. I thought I was going to lose my leg. So, I went on a diet, lost 40 lbs, ( I was over 260 lbs at the time). Well, I didn't loose my leg , so I went back to my old eating habits. My BS levels started to climb, along with my weight. My Dr kept adding more meds. to try to get my sugar level down. I was on 9 different meds and my weight held steady at 250. My Bs was still over 175. He said if I didn't loose some weight, I would have to go on insulin. With my wife's help my BS came down, and I started loosing weight. Now I am off two of my meds. And I hope when I see my Dr in July, I can come off more.
I need the support that I get from sparkpeople. I work around snack food all day, and it is too easy to grab a handful here and there. ( It is sooo gooood when it is coming out of the cookers:) I don't want to get back up to 250 ever again. I am holding steady at 206, with 40 lbs left to go.

With all this rain talk I decided to check out your Spark page. You have done so well I have no doubt you will reach your goal. I know having a wife who is supportive helps a great deal. My husband draws the line at exercising with me. (he probably walks 5 miles a day at work) He does give me moral support though & is great at trying all the Spark recipes I fix. I am afraid if I had your job I would have to look for other employment though! ~LOL~

    Keep up the good work!

DON'T QUIT! You've come along way. And been close to major life threatening or altering ramifications. Your wife obviously is devoted to helping you achieve better health. You definitely got a keeper. :) And she must think you are worth keeping around too.
