30 day shred - how many calories?

Thursday, April 09, 2009

How would you even begin to estimate how many calories you burn doing Jillian's 30 day shred? I guessed about 150 - I have idea if that's high or low. There's cardio, weights, all for about 30 minutes...

Anyone have any idea? emoticon

    Hey Again,
The biggest loser 30-Day Jumpstart is a book adapted from the show. I bought the book on Ebay for $15.00. It has some really great tips and some motivational dialog from the trainers and contestents. It also has alot of good recipes and some not so good, depending on your tastes and a daily menu plan for 30 days. I have stayed pretty close to the plan. I also recommend purchasing the soup instead of making it homemade if you are strapped for time. In my case the smokey sausage lentil soup just didn't work for me. Probably the cook. Anyway, like you I needed something different cause what I was doing wasn't working. I was faithfully working out 5 to 6 days a week and nothing was happining! They say if you have the workout right, you need to look at your food. That what I did and so far so good. We will see on Sunday. It will be 2 full weeks on the plan.

I wore a heartrate monitor and for the 20 min workout excluding the warm up and cool down I burned 204 calories, but that's different for everyone. If you really want an accurate picture of the intensity of your training, I would suggest a heart rate monitor.

Great points brought up - I have been all over my range of calories - high end to low end to middle. The most I've ever gone over is about 25 calories. Last couple of days I've just been making it to 1200. I do snack throughout the day - and I always eat 3 meals... I don't eat out, but if I do, I try to do Subway. I eat no fried food, and if we can grill out, we do. I am noticing that if I eat a larger lunch, that seems to help the rest of the day into the evening. Fill me in - what is the Biggest Loser 30 day Jump Start?

Hi I am new to Spark and this group. I used to do calorie count and this web site is much much nicer.

I really don't know the answer to your question although it probably depends on how hard you work at it while you are doing the exercises. If you are out of breath when you are finished with the cardio and if you are sweating after the weights and actually tire yourself out in the thirty minutes it could be more than 150 calories.

I was reading your other entries. This may help. You may not be eating enough. I also was stuck. Thought I was doing everything right and didn't lose a pound in 2 months. I found out If you eat 3 meals and 2 snacks all equal to about 300 calories you may be able to lose more. I just started the biggest loser 30 day jump start and work out 6 days a week and I lost 2.5 lbs the first week. Don't know about this week yet. Will have to let you know. emoticon
