Thank you to everyone that has welcomed me! I went out of town yesterday and wasn't able to update anything or respond back to anyone, but I am here!

I was VERY fit and in shape in my younger years, but health problems and then foot problems (after a bad fall) has helped encourage a tremendous amount of weight gain. I can't stand the way people look at me, some as if I am trash, just because I am overweight. I use to be the girl that all the guys wanted to date, and never had self-esteem problems, etc., but after gaining 84 pounds on my short frame, I totally feel like a different person. My goal is to lose 74 pounds and that would get me to 115 and not the 105 that I had been at prior to all of this weight gain.

My biggest problem is going to be cooking healthy, but pleasing. I LOVE to cook and I love to cook foods from all over the world. I am actually trying to eat more vegetarian dishes than animal protein and I have cleaned out my house from anything with high-fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils and MSG. MSG gives me migraines and well, the other stuff just isn't good for us. Also, sugar substitutes give me migraines as well, so I am going to allow myself a little bit of the real stuff, but not a lot and I'm going to try and avoid it in processessed foods.

In the past I loved exercising and working out, so my goal is to get my body moving again on a daily basis. I love The Firm videos, several years ago I really toned up with them and if I can get my feet to cooperate then I'd like to start running again. I do have a treadmill and will start walking again, but that isn't necessarily fun for me. I once heard a long time ago "A body in motion, stays in motion... a body at rest, stays at rest". It's so true! The more I am sedentary, the more I am sedentary, the more I get up and move around, the more I get up and move around... and then subsequently feel better!

So, this is a little more info as to what I am doing and the goal I would like to reach. I look forward to getting to know as many "SparkPeople" as I can and encouraging each other along the way.

    Have you tried Stevia, it's an alternative to sugar
    and sugar subsittues and can be found in health food
    stores, they have a new one out called Truvia that
    you can find in most grocery stores!
